'Double KO!' Boxers simultaneously exchange punches, hit canvas at the same time (VIDEO)

'Double KO!' Boxers simultaneously exchange punches, hit canvas at the same time (VIDEO)

The fabled 'double knockdown' is one of the rarest sights in boxing but that is exactly what happened at an event in Florida when Irosvani Duvergel and Jerhed Fenderson both hit the canvas after connecting shots simultaneously.

Cuban middleweight Duvergel, still in the early stages of his unbeaten professional career, was paired with journeyman Fenderson as he looked to increase his 5-0 record against the American who had claimed just four wins from 14 bouts up to this point in his career.

The clear favorite going into the bout, Duvergel probably wasn't expecting too much fanfare from the fight, but it wound up going 'viral' after a unique clip was captured from their contest.

Duvergel, who has won half of his fights by KO, connected with a strong right hook in a third round exchange as Fenderson retreated to the ropes, sending the American plummeting to the mat. However, at almost exactly the same time, Fenderson landed a shovel uppercut to Duvergel, sending the Cuban sprawling to the ropes and onto his back.

He immediately rises back to his feet and instructs the referee to count Fenderson, who would beat the count. The drama wasn't limited to that, as the third round contained a further TWO knockdowns.

Incredibly, both fighters saw the fight through to the final bell with Duvergel being awarded the nod from the judges. He improves his record to 6-0 but could very well never participate in a round as dramatic as the one above if he fights another 50 professional bouts.

Fenderson, meanwhile, falls to 4-11 but at least has one hell of a story to tell.
