Afghanistan after the US

The September 11 tragedy reshaped the modern world. America, which had never recently been attacked on its soil, was shocked and immediately declared a “war on terror.” On October 7, 2001, the US and its NATO allies launched Operation Enduring Freedom. Its objective was to hunt down and kill Osama Bin Laden, the terrorist leader, and overthrow the Afghan Taliban, who had been sheltering him. Ten years after the campaign began, American forces finally tracked down and killed Bin Laden. But it was another decade before American troops withdrew from Afghanistan, leaving the country depleted and in ruins. So what came out of America’s 20-year-long stay?
