Games of the Future to become annual event – Russian sports minister
Russia's Sports minister Oleg Matytsin has commented on future plans for the Games of the Future phygital sports format.
“At the moment the intent is to hold Games of the Future every year. There is interest from multiple countries, and in the near future the international organization in charge of the Games will be starting the entry submission campaign. I hope that more of the Games will take place, and that they will be no less successful in other countries,” he said, as cited by RIA Novosti.
Games of the Future is an innovative international tournament consisting of 21 disciplines, which took place in Kazan from February 21 to March 3, 2024. Over 2,000 athletes from different countries worldwide took part in the competitions.
Games of the Future combine competitions in the physical and digital domains, ‘phygital’ (physical + digital), testing athletes’ skills in the real and virtual worlds.
